I just got back from Pensacola today. One of the things that i most wanted to do was to climb the Pensacola Lighthouse. Admission onto the base is free, but there is a charge of $5 per person to climb the lighthouse. The lighthouse is beautiful and well maintained. In addition to climbing the 177 steps to enjoy the view, you can tour the old light keepers house as well. There are still blood stains visible in one of the upstairs bedrooms from when the wife of the lighthouse keeper stabbed him to death. Supposedly it is haunted, but i didn't see anything. The ladies working at the lighthouse are friendly and full of information, and one even told me they do halloween tours there too. Sounded like a lot of fun. Definitely worth a look!
Warren D said on Facebook: I watched the (Blue Angel's) practice from the lighthouse in May. One of the most entertaining things I've done in quite a while. Best E-ticket ride you can get for $15. Still can't believe you don't have to make reservations months in advance.
Jenny H - The ghost huts was wild!! We left fully believing in the paranormal and that the lighthouse is haunted!!!!!!
Anne R Wow!!! The Blue Angel experience like never before! A 360 degree on top of the lighthouse is amazing!!!!
To be able to watch the blue Angles & take some awesome pics is unforgettable. M was in tears when one of jets flew so close above us that you could feel the heat & see fire off the engines. Way cool....
The flight out of Pennsylvania was delayed by snow, they missed their connection in Atlanta and he was afraid it wouldn't happen....
But it was meant to be. She loves lighthouses and he loves her.. where better to propose than at the top of the Pensacola Lighthouse with family to witness one of the highest points of their lives?
Today, Brian S. asked Julie G. to become his wife at the top of the Pensacola Lighthouse. Afterward he leaned over the rail and let everyone know "She said YES!"
Julie's sister, Karen, contacted us last week to help her and Brian pull of the greatest surprise proposal they could think of. Julie and Karen's mom and dad drove up from Ft. Meyers to share in this moment. Julie was taken by surprise and couldn't stop smiling. The entire family celebrated with a picnic under the Live Oak Trees at the lighthouse.
Thank you, Brian and Julie, for allowing us at the Pensacola Lighthouse to share your special day. Don't forget... we've had weddings at the Lighthouse, too!
