The Lighthouse aboard NAS Pensacola has a new gift shop in a very old building.
The Carriage House behind the Lighthouse had fallen into disrepair. This year contractors took the building apart then reassembled it to look like it did when it was new.
The gift shop re-opened on Thursday in the renovated building.
"In the 1930s it was actually cut to look like a garage, and it was a storage shed forever, and then we found a photo from 1893 in the Coast Guard file, and we were able to put the floor plan back in place like it was originally," said Jon Hill.
The Carriage House renovations are just part of a major restoration project at the Lighthouse. Last year the porches around the main house were all re-done.
